Squishy Slip-Stitch Mitts

 

Materials:

50gms DK/8Ply yarn (I used Millpost Superfine Merino)

4mm DPNs/9” circular/Addi CrasiTrio needles

Stitch marker

Darning Needle

Waste yarn for thumbs

Pattern:

Cast on 40 stitches evenly across needles, using the long-tail cast on (I put twenty on each needle as I use CrasiTrios). Join stitches, being careful not to twist them. Knit twelve rounds K2P2 rib.

Knit one round plain.

Begin slip-stitch pattern:

Round 1: Slip1, K1, repeat around

Round 2: knit around

Round 3: Slip1, repeat around

Round 4: Knit around

Repeat these four rounds 3 times.

Thumb: at beginning of round, M1 stitch, place stitch marker, resume slip-stitch pattern. On second round of slip-stitch pattern, at thumb stitch, knit front and back to make two stitches before marker. Slip marker. Do this once.

On round 1 of slip-stitch pattern, on thumb stitches, K1, knit front and back, knit to second-last stitch before marker, knit front and back, K1, slip marker.

Knit five repeats of slip-stitch pattern, adding stitches to thumb section as written. There should know be 12 stitches in the thumb section.

Knit first round of slip-stitch pattern. On second round, place thumb stitches on waste yarn. Continue slip-stitch pattern.

Work four repeats of slip-stitch pattern.

Work 12 rounds of K2P2 rib.

Bind-off with stretchy bind off.

Pick up stitches on waste yarn. Through fabric of mitt, pick up four additional stitches. Join to work in round. Knit one round plain, followed by 5 rounds of K2P2 rib. Bind off with stretchy bind-off.

Wash in wool wash/shampoo and dry flat.
